The descent of the Ardèche by canoe in 2 days is THE descent of the Gorges de l’Ardèche.
But how does the night go in the Bivouac?
When you go on a canoe descent of 31 km or 36 km in two days, you must sleep in one of the two bivouac areas located in the heart of the Gorges de l’Ardèche nature reserve.
To stay on these sites, you must have reserved your bivouac places in advance.
Bivouac of Gaud
The bivouac of Gaud located on the left bank of the Ardèche in the magnificent cirque of Gaud, is located 12 km after the start for the 31 km course and 17 km for the 36 km course.
Situated around an old castle and a small farm, the Gaud bivouac offers sanitary facilities (toilets and showers) and access to drinking water.
Barbecues are available to visitors free of charge, and charcoal is available on site.
Bivouac of Gournier
The bivouac of Gournier is located at the 16th km for the descent of 31 km and at the 21st for the descent of 36 km.
Also located on the left bank of the Gorges de l’Ardèche, the bivouac of Gournier is positioned just before the famous rapid of the Toupine de Gournier and about 30 minutes from the rock of the Cathedral.
Like the bivouac of Gaud, you will find on site sanitary facilities (toilet and shower), drinking water and barbecues in free access.
